What age, size, and look do I need to be a model?
It all depends on what area of modeling you are interested in and qualified for. This is why we break down each major area of opportunity and give you detailed answers for each specific area.

How can I get an interview with an agency?
Top NYC agencies like Ford, Wilhelmina, and Elite have "open calls" on a regular basis. You can politely walk in without any appointment and get a free personal interview. Some top agencies in other cities also have the same opportunity. I will give you the details on these "open calls", and how to get the best results from this amazing opportunity.

Am I allowed to visit more than one agency?
If the first ageny you approach does not accept you, please don't get discouraged. Just because you don't fit the criteria of one agency doesn't mean you wont be right for another one. We recommend you get your face in front of at least 10 reputable agencies. I will show you exactly how to do this even if you live in a small town.

What national model searches can I trust?
Today there are model search contests everywhere and in each city. You can even find ads on your local radio and TV invite you to come for free. Are these searches credible? How much can you expect to spend on one? I will give you a list of the most reputable national model searches. I will walk you through what to expect and how to avoid wasting your money.

Is a modeling agency the same as a modeling school?
DO NOT confuse modeling agencies with modeling schools. Modeling schools make money teaching basics about how to look walk, and feel more confident. Only a small percentage (5-20%) of today's successful models ever attended modeling school. A modeling agency never charges a fee to accept a model. An agency by law can only take a percentage of the money you earn on jobs they book for you. Agents get jobs for models, organize interviews, and negotiate rates on behalf of models they represent.

What about normal looking people I see in ads?
Commercial Print or Lifestyle modeling is a great opportunity for people who do not meet the high standards for fashion modeling. All ages, shapes, and sizes of real people are used today in advertisements. Sometimes these models get paid more per hour than models seen in top fashion magazines and catalogs.

Are there many other types of  modeling available?
Yes!!! There are other highly profitable avenues of modeling, and these are available for you today: fit modeling, conventions, trade shows, hand modeling, foot modeling, plus size modeling, petite modeling, runway.  These will definitely help you to accumulate all the experience that you will want.

Modeling Schools are not necessary to attend, however, if you would like to learn about self confidence or basic modeling skills, they will be an asset.  Please visit the following links for more information about these main schools....
